About Us

Founded in 1974, Coastal Diesel Service is a family-owned business proud to serve Eastern North Carolina. What started as a small fuel shop specializing in injection pump repairs under Mr and Mrs Henry Bahr, has grown into the trusted diesel service company our customers know today.

Later, Tom and Ruthie Bland purchased the company and helped shape Coastal Diesel into what it became over the next several decades. Through hard work, strong customer relationships, and a commitment to doing things the right way, they expanded the business to include a full parts warehouse, and diesel engine and generator service department, to fully support their growing fuel shop department. Their focus was always simple — take care of the customer and stand behind the work.

In 2023, Tom officially retired and passed ownership to Reed and Abbie Sheffield, longtime members of the Coastal Diesel team. While ownership has changed, the values behind the business remain the same: honest service, quality work, and treating customers like family.

Today, Coastal Diesel continues to grow while staying committed to the people and communities we serve across Eastern North Carolina. We appreciate the trust our customers place in us and are always working to improve and better meet your needs.
